Bitcoin at crypto casinos: confirmations, fees and minimums
This guide covers moving Bitcoin in and out of crypto casinos from Canada: confirmation times, network fees and what each casino adds. On September 26, 2026, a typical Bitcoin transaction cost about C$0.19 in network fees by our calculation.[6] Most Canadians start with an Interac e-Transfer to Shakepay, Newton or Kraken. From Interac to a casino address
The usual route from a Canadian bank account has three steps:
- Send an Interac e-Transfer to a crypto platform on the Canadian Securities Administrators’ registered list. The CSA last updated it on September 18, 2026.[15]
- Buy BTC on that platform.
- Withdraw the BTC to the deposit address the casino’s cashier shows you.
Four registered platforms, in their own words:

Your own bank sets an e-Transfer limit too, per Kraken’s help page.[11] Shakepay adds that some banks hold a transfer for up to an hour.[9]
At step 3, the address must be a Bitcoin address and the network must be Bitcoin. BitStarz also lists Lightning on its payments page, which is a separate way to move BTC.[16] Pick the option that matches what your wallet actually sends.
What happens at the casino end is the other half of the cost. BitStarz states 0% on crypto deposits and withdrawals and a 0.0001 BTC minimum deposit — about C$11.91 at the September 26 rate, by our calculation.[16] [7] Its FAQ gives a 10-minute average cashout.[17]

Confirmations: why the casino makes you wait
A confirmation is Bitcoin’s way of saying the coins are settled. Bitcoin.org puts it plainly:
“A confirmation means that there is a consensus on the network that the bitcoins you received haven’t been sent to anyone else and are considered your property.”[1]
Blocks arrive about every 10 minutes on average, but the same FAQ is blunt about the spread: “there is no guaranteed minimum or maximum delay.”[1] The protocol retargets difficulty every 2,016 blocks, roughly two weeks, to hold that pace.[4]
The developer guide says a transaction with a sufficient fee needs 10 minutes on average for one confirmation. For high-value payments it suggests at least six, about an hour of network work.[2] Bitcoin.org adds a benchmark: “6 confirmations is often considered to be as safe as waiting 6 months on a credit card transaction.”[1]

The fee you attach changes the clock. In bitcoin.org’s words: “If the transaction pays a fee below what the network is currently prioritizing, the first confirmation may take considerably longer.”[1]

Two fees, not one
Two fees, not one: the casino’s and the network’s — here are both.
The network fee isn’t a percentage. Bitcoin.org: “the fee is relative to the number of bytes in the transaction.”[1] Miners fill blocks with the highest fee per byte first, and rates rise as demand for block space grows.[5]
A worked example, using the September 26 snapshot. A simple transaction with one input and two outputs is about 141 virtual bytes — a typical size, and our assumption. The figures below are our calculations from Blockstream and CoinGecko data, not quotes.[6] [7]

On the way in, the exchange’s withdrawal fee plays the casino’s part. Shakepay offers “Normal speed (~12 hrs) • free” or “Fast speed (~10 mins) • fees apply”, with a ₿0.00005 minimum.[9] Newton has a Priority lane at $10 plus the network fee, a Standard lane at the network fee only, and a Free lane.[12] Coinsquare lists its BTC withdrawal fee as dynamic, with a 0.0006 BTC minimum.[14]

In Canadian dollars at the September 26 rate, by our calculation: 7Bit’s minimum deposit is about C$15.48 and its minimum withdrawal about C$30.95. Stake’s minimum BTC withdrawal is about C$2.98. Winz sets its minimums in its base currency; C$32 is our conversion at the Bank of Canada rate of September 25, 2026.[33]
Two more lines from the terms. BitStarz and Winz want each crypto deposit wagered once before a withdrawal; 7Bit asks for 3x.[18] [31] [24] 7Bit also caps withdrawals at 0.13 BTC a week and 0.52 BTC a month.[24] Where those rules come from is in our guide to how crypto casinos work.
Where you play from matters too. 7Bit’s terms and Winz’s default terms exclude Ontario and New Brunswick; Stake’s exclude Ontario.[24] [31] [30] 7Bit’s full review quotes the clause word for word.
Mistakes that cost money
- Wrong network. Bitcoin travels on the Bitcoin network. A token labelled BTC on BEP-20 is a different asset on a different chain. Shakepay: “Sending assets on an unsupported network (for example BEP-20) may result in permanent loss of funds.”[8]
- Skipping the test. Wealthsimple: “Crypto withdrawals are irreversible. We recommend testing out a small amount first.”[26] Make the test bigger than the casino’s minimum deposit.
- Paying for recovery. Coinsquare says a wrong-network transfer “may be recoverable through a third-party recovery service”. The fee: $100 or 5% of the funds, whichever is greater.[14]
- Forgetting the address book. Newton requires a withdrawal address to be saved in your Address Book first.[12]
- Underpaying the fee. A cheap fee can mean a long first confirmation. Check the rate your wallet picks before you send.

Taxes, briefly
For a recreational player, gambling winnings in Canada are generally not taxable — the CRA treats them as windfalls (Income Tax Folio S3-F9-C1).[28] If gambling is your business, the profits are income.
The crypto itself is a separate question. Selling or swapping crypto can create a capital gain or business income under CRA rules. How long does a Bitcoin casino deposit take?
Bitcoin adds a block about every 10 minutes on average, with no guaranteed maximum, per bitcoin.org. Each business sets how many confirmations it waits for: Roobet credits BTC after 1, Shakepay after 2 (about 20 minutes), Kraken after 4 (about 40 minutes). A low fee can slow the first one.
How much is the Bitcoin network fee for a casino deposit?
It depends on the transaction’s size in bytes, not the amount. On September 26, 2026, Blockstream estimated about 1.1 sat/vB for the next block. For a typical 141-byte transaction that’s about 157 satoshis, roughly C$0.19 — our calculation. Exchanges and casinos add their own withdrawal fees.
How do I buy Bitcoin in Canada for a casino deposit?
Send an Interac e-Transfer to a platform on the CSA’s registered list, such as Shakepay, Newton, Kraken or Coinsquare, and buy BTC there. Then withdraw it to the Bitcoin address in the casino’s cashier, starting with a small test above the casino’s minimum. More in how crypto casinos work.
What is the minimum Bitcoin withdrawal at a crypto casino?
Per their own pages on September 26, 2026: Stake 0.00002504 BTC, 7Bit 0.26 mBTC, BitStarz $50, Winz about C$32 in BTC. Roobet shows its minimum only in the cashier. Stake also takes a fixed 0.00001571 BTC fee per withdrawal; BitStarz, Roobet and Winz charge no casino fee on crypto.
Why is my Bitcoin withdrawal taking so long?
Three clocks run in a row. The casino processes the request (7Bit’s terms allow up to 72 hours after approval), it may ask for ID first, then the network confirms. If the fee is below what miners are prioritizing, bitcoin.org warns the first confirmation may take considerably longer.
Can I send Bitcoin on BEP-20 to a casino?
Only if the cashier lists that network, and then it’s a token on BNB Smart Chain, not Bitcoin itself. Shakepay warns that sending on an unsupported network such as BEP-20 may mean permanent loss. Match the network letter for letter. Our USDT networks guide covers the same trap for stablecoins.
